Mark Randall Havens

Founder & Executive Director

Mark Randall Havens is a man who knows how to make things happen. He has devoted much of his life to the Maker Movement. In 2010, he established the first Maker community in North Texas and developed the most successful nonprofit business model of any other makerspace in the world. For years, he has been determined to research and promote optimal management patterns that help promote the Maker Movement’s educational philosophy. Through his work at Dallas Makerspace, he believes he has developed and propagated the most prolific pattern of Maker culture to date.

Since his founding of Dallas Makerspace, Mark has been mentoring makerspace managers, board members, and executives on how to create and maintain successful Maker communities. In addition, he educates community leaders on counter-manipulation tactics that help mitigate against destructive influences of unhealthy bad actors that may negatively impact makerspaces throughout the North Texas/Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond. He is determined to model innovative strategies to optimally replace destructive leadership patterns with constructive leadership patterns for Maker communities worldwide.
